  The compounds previously reported2 to be the stable areneselenenic acids, -nitro-( and -benzoylbenzeneselenenic acid (), are shown actually to be the corresponding selenenic anhydrides (ArSeOSeAr). Solutions of the selenenic acids (ArSeOH), however, can be easily generated from the anhydrides byacid-catalyzed hydrolysis.
