  [EN] A method for the preparation of a diaminobisimide compound of formula (I) substantially free of oligomers, wherein Ar<1> is an optionally substituted aromatic residue which provides for good conjugation between the nitrogen containing groups; and Ar is an optionally substituted aromatic residue characterized in that at least two molar proportions of an aromatic diamine of the formula (II): H2N-Ar<1>-NH2 wherein Ar<1> is as defined above, are heated with one molar proportion of an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid of the formula (III): (HOOC)2Ar(COOOH)2 or the corresponding dianhydride, wherein Ar is as defined above, optionally in the presence of a polar solvent and optionally including 0.1 to 2 molar proportions of a tertiary amine. The compounds of formula (I) are useful curing agents in epoxy resin formulations.
  [FR] Procédé de préparation d'un composé de diaminobisimide de la formule (I) pratiquement exempt d'oligomères, dans laquelle Ar1 représente un résidu aromatique éventuellement substitué, formant une liaison conjuguée correcte entre les groupes contenant de l'azote; et Ar représente un résidu aromatique éventuellement substitué caractérisé par le fait qu'au moins deux proportions molaires d'une diamine aromatique de la formule (II): H2N-Ar1-NH2 dans laquelle Ar1 est comme défini ci-dessus, sont chauffées avec une proportion molaire d'un acide tétracarboxylique aromatique de la formule (III): (HOOC)2Ar(COOH)2 ou du dianhydride correspondant, dans laquelle Ar est comme défini ci-dessus, éventuellement en présence d'un solvant polaire et incluant éventuellement entre 0,1 et 2 proportions molaires d'une amine tertiaire. Les composés de la formule (I) sont des agents de durcissement efficaces pour les formulations de résines époxy.
