The syntheses of the trisilanes (X3Si)2SiMe2, X = H, F, Cl, Br, I, OMe, starting from (Ph3Si)2SiMe2 are described. The reaction of 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexaphenyl-2,2-dimethyltrisilane with triflic acid, followed by a treatment with LiF or reduction with LiAIH4, leads to the trisilanes (HPh2Si)2SiMe2, (H2PhSi)2SiMe2, HPh2SiSiMe2SiH2Ph, (FPh2Si)2SiMe2, (F2PhSi)2SiMe2 and FPh2SiSiMe2SiF2Ph.
