The Wittig reagent [(diethoxyphosphinyl)methylidene]triphenylphosphorane (1b) has been successfully synthesized for the first time via its phosphonium triflate salt (4a), by treating (diethoxyphosphinyl)methyl triflate with triphenylphosphine.
