    The present disclosure relates to bifunctional compounds, which find utility as modulators of Interleukin-1 Receptor-Associated Kinase 4 (IRAK-4); the target protein). In particular, the present disclosure is directed to bifunctional compounds, which contain on one end a Von Hppel-Lindau, cereblon, ligand which binds to the E3 ubiquitin ligase and on the other end a moiety which binds the target protein, such that the target protein is placed in proximity to the ubiquitin ligase to effect degradation (and inhibition) of target protein. The present disclosure exhibits a broad range of pharmacological activities associated with degradation/inhibition of target protein. Diseases or disorders that result from aggregation or accumulation of the target protein are treated or prevented with compounds and compositions of the present disclosure.

    A process for producing a sulfonyl chloride compound comprising: (A) a step comprising reacting a pyridazine compound represented by the formula (1): wherein R 1 represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group which may be substituted with a halogen atom or atoms, or the like, R 2 and R 3 are the same or different and each represents a hydrogen atom or the like, R 4 represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group which may be substituted with a halogen atom or atoms, or the like, with a sulfonating agent; (B) a step comprising contacting the reaction mixture obtained in the step (A) with a chlorinating agent; and (C) a step comprising mixing the reaction mixture obtained in the step (B) with an aqueous inorganic base solution to separate an organic layer containing a sulfonyl chloride compound represented by the formula (2): wherein R 1 to R 4 are the same meanings as defined above.
