  [EN] Provided herein is a method for identifying a compound having neuroprotective activity, including: providing a population of cells treated with a test compound for a first period of time; subjecting the population of cells to doxorubicin for a second period of time; and determining survival rate of the population of cells; wherein an increase in the survival rate compared to a control that is not treated with the test compound is indicative of neuroprotective activity of the test compound. Compounds identified therefrom are also provided. These compounds can be used to treat various diseases, disorders, or conditions associated with neuronal cell death.
  [FR] L'invention concerne un procédé d'identification d'un composé ayant une action neuroprotectrice, ce procédé consistant à : obtenir une population de cellules traitées avec un composé test sur une première durée; soumettre la population de cellules à la doxorubicine pendant une seconde durée et déterminer le taux de survie de la population de cellules; une augmentation du taux de survie comparée à un témoin qui n'est pas traité avec le composé test indique l'action neuroprotectrice de ce composé test. L'invention concerne également des composés identifiés à partir de ce procédé. Ces composés peuvent être utilisés pour traiter diverses maladies, divers troubles ou états associés à la mort cellulaire neuronale.
