  Abstract Niobium pentoxide, a bifunctional solid surface catalyst, has been successfully employed to facilitate the three-component reaction between aldehydes, amines and triethyl phosphite at room temperature under solvent-free conditions to generate α-amino phosphonate in moderate to good yields.
