The present invention relates to substituted carbamoylmethoxy and carbamoylmethylthio benzamide compounds (I) and the stereoisomers, salts, tautomers and N-oxides thereof and to compositions comprising the same. The invention also relates to the use of the carbamoylmethoxy- and carbamoylmethylthio-benzamide compounds or of the compositions comprising such compounds for combating invertebrate pests. Flash vacuum Pyrolysis (FVP) of primary N-alkoxyphthalimides at 400-500 o C and 0.02 Torr gave functionallysubstitutedaldehydes. A mechanism of this pyrolytic transformation was proposed based on the kinetic data and product analysis.
