The process comprises: Contacting a microbe with an antimicrobial composition containing, as its active ingredient, a member selected from the group consisting of N,N-bis(pelargonoyloxyethyl)pelargonoyloxyacetamide, N,N-bis(lauroyloxyethyl)lauroyloxyacetamide, N,N-bis (oleoyloxyethyl)oleoyloxyacetamide, N,N-bis(trimethylacetyloxyethyl)trimethylacetylacetamide, carboethoxymethyl hydrocinnamate, and bis(carbomethoxymethyl) adipate.
