    Carbon-13 NMR spectra of saturated heterocycles: XI—Tetrahydropyrans (oxanes)

    AbstractThe 13C NMR spectra of 62 oxanes (tetrahydropyrans) with and without methyl substituents at various ring positions, some of them bearing in addition (or instead) ethyl, vinyl, ethynyl, carbomethoxy and methylol substituents at C‐2, have been recorded, and the 294 resulting chemical shifts have been correlated by multiple linear regression analysis. Axial and equatorial α‐, β‐, γ‐, δ‐, gem‐ and vic‐parameters for shifts caused by methyl groups at all ring positions, and similar parameters for Et,—CHCH2,—CCH, CO2Me and CH2OH groups at C‐2, are reported. Standard deviations of the parameters are, in most cases, within 0.3 ppm and the agreement of calculated and experimental shifts is excellent. This is probably the largest parameter set of this type extant. 13C NMR spectra of a number of additional substituted tetrahydropyrans, and of 3,6‐dihydro‐2H‐pyrans and 3,4‐dihydro‐2H‐pyrans, are tabulated and discussed.

    The present invention relates to a reusable print medium comprising a substrate and a sacrificial layer. The sacrificial layer contains a hotmelt composition at least comprising an amorphous material. The amorphous material is a resin being a reaction product of a first monomer A, said first monomer A being a polyhydroxyl alcohol comprising X hydroxyl functional groups, wherein X≧2, monomer A optionally comprises a primary or secondary amine functionality; a second monomer B, being an aromatic monocarboxylic acid; a third monomer C, said third monomer C being able to form an ester linkage with an alcohol and/or an amide linkage with a primary or secondary amine; and optionally, a fourth monomer D, being an aromatic monocarboxylic acid different from the second monomer B. The sacrificial layer including the printed image may be removed from the substrate by applying heat. A new sacrificial layer may be applied such that the reusable print medium is ready to be reused. The present invention also relates to a method of manufacturing a reusable print medium according to the present invention, a method of printing and recycling such a print medium and an apparatus for printing and recycling such a print medium.

    Disclosed is a crosslinked polyester for a toner, and a process for its manufacture wherein the polyester has an acid value of 5 to 20 mgKOH/g, a flow index of 0.1 x 10⁻⁴ to 300 x 10⁻⁴ ml/sec and softening point lower than 145°C, the polyester being formed by mixing a dicarboxylic acid component, a diol component and at least one crosslinking component selected from a polyfunctional carboxylic acid component having a trivalency or a higher valency and a polyhydric alcohol component having a trivalency or a higher valency at a mixing ratio represented by the following formula (1), reacting the mixture at a reaction ratio represented by the following formula (2) and subjecting the esterification product to polycondensation and crosslinking. 0.8 ≦ R ≦ 1 + 5a      (1) 0.7 ≦ P ≦ [R/(1 + a)]1/2      (2) wherein R is the ratio of the mole number of the total alcohol components to the mole number of the total acid components, a is the ratio of the sum of the mole number of the polyvalent carboxylic acid component and the mole number of the polyhydric alcohol component to the mole number of the total acid components, and P is the conversion of the carboxylic acid components. A toner comprising this crosslinked polyester as the binder has an excellent offset-preventing property, low-temperature fixing property and blocking resistance and good charging characteristics with a high moisture resistance, and gives a copied image having good sharpness and image density.

    The present invention relates to a reusable print medium (200) comprising a substrate (201) and a sacrificial layer (202). The sacrificial layer contains a hotmelt composition at least comprising an amorphous material. The amorphous material is a resin being a reaction product of a first monomer A, said first monomer A being a polyhydroxyl alcohol comprising X hydroxyl functional groups, wherein X ≥ 2, monomer A optionally comprises a primary or secondary amine functionality; a second monomer B, being an aromatic monocarboxylic acid; a third monomer C, said third monomer C being able to form an ester linkage with an alcohol and/or an amide linkage with a primary or secondary amine; and optionally, a fourth monomer D, being an aromatic monocarboxylic acid different from the second monomer B. The sacrificial layer including the printed image may be removed from the substrate by applying heat. A new sacrificial layer may be applied such that the reusable print medium is ready to be reused. The present invention also relates to a method of manufacturing a reusable print medium according to the present invention and a method of printing and recycling such a print medium.
