Chiral Amplification with a Stereodynamic Triaryl Probe: Assignment of the Absolute Configuration and Enantiomeric Excess of Amino Alcohols

A stereodynamic, axially chiral triaryl probe is locked into a single conformation upon condensation with two aminoalcohol substrates. The well-defined chiral amplification in the diimines formed results in intense Cotton effects at high wavelengths that can be used for in situ CD analysis of the absolute configuration and ee of cyclic and acyclic substrates.
