  Mixed ligand mononuclear ruthenium(II) complexes with a dithiolate anion; N-cyanodithiocarbimate ion(2-) (cdc2-, S2CNCN2-) of the type [Cp(EPh3)Ru(S2CNCN)], [(bpy)2Ru(S2CNCN)]; and mu-cdc2- bridged dinuclear complexes [Cp(EPh3)Ru(S2CNCN)Ru(EPh3)2Cp], [(bpy)2RU(S2CNCN)Ru(EPh3)2Cp](PF6), [(bpy)2Ru(S2CNCN) Ru(bpy)2Cl](PF6), together with their dibenzyldithioether analogues, [(C6H5CH2)2S2 CNCN] (where Cp = eta-5-C5H5-, E = P, As, Sb) have been synthesized. These complexes have been characterized using microanalyses and by various physicochemical methods (conductance, IR, H-1, C-13 and P-31 NMR spectra). Electronic spectral and cyclic voltammetry studies have also been carried out.
