    A transition metal compound from Periodic Table Group 3 to 10 or lanthanide, of formula (I): In formula (I), A 1 and A 2 are independently a crosslinker of formula (II) X is a σ or π-bonding ligand, and plural Xs may differ; Y is a Lewis base, and plural Ys may differ and/or crosslink with Y or X; q is an integer from 1 to 5, representing [(valence of M)−2]; r is an integer from 0 to 3; M is a metal from Group 3 to 10 or a lanthanide; n and m are independently an integer from 0 to 4; and plural Rs may differ. In formula (II), E is C, Si, Ge, or Sn; R 1 and R 2 are independently a H, a halogen, or a C1 to C20 hydrocarbon, optionally halogenated, and may bond together to form a ring, and e is an integer from 1 to 4.

    A functionalized α-olefin polymer having an α-olefin polymer main chain and an alkoxysilyl group and satisfying the following (a) to (d): (a) The meso-pentad fraction [mmmm] is less than 20 mol %, or the meso-diad fraction [m] is less than 95 mol %. (b) The weight-average molecular weight (Mw) is from 1,000 to 500,000. (c) The alkoxysilyl group concentration in all the monomer units is from 0.01 to 50 mol %. (d) The α-olefin polymer is a propylene homopolymer, a 1-butene homopolymer or a propylene-1-butene copolymer.

    An improved method for polymerizing alpha-olefins under low pressure in the presence of a modified Ziegler-Natta catalyst comprising a mixture of an organo-aluminum compound and a compound of a transition metal of groups IV-B, V-B, VI-B, and VII-B of the Periodic Table, together with a quantity of Groups I-A and II-A organophosphide in an amount of from about .01 to about.15 moles bases upon the amount of organo-aluminum compounds present. Catalysts of the instant invention provide highly isotactic polymers. The amount of metal organophosphide added is critical to obtaining these objectives.

    In a process for preparing aminopropyl alkoxy silanes comprising reacting an allylamine with a hydro-alkoxy silane in the presence of a rhodium catalyst, a rhodium phosphide or its oligomer is used as the rhodium catalyst. By this process the desired gamma-isomer can be prepared in a high selectivity and yield within a short reaction time.
