  β-Butylsulfanyl tetra-, sexa-, and octathiophenes were synthesized by oxidative coupling with iron(III) chloride from 3-butylsulfanyl-2,2′-bithiophene. Tetrathiophene was also generated through coupling reac tions. The nmr characterization of oligomers is reported and discussed.
