Trimethylaluminium promoted rearrangements of unsaturated sugars into cyclohexanes

Trimethylaluminium induces a stereoselective rearrangement of unsaturated glycosides into polyfunctionalised cyclohexanic rings containing a tertiary alcohol and retaining the anomeric group.
