The present invention relates to novel compounds of general formula A: Particularly, the present invention relates to compounds which are useful as antifeedant against the major agricultural pest Spodoptera litura and thus useful as potential insect antifeedants. Benzimidazo[1,2‐a]pyrimidinone and its derivatives were easily prepared in good to excellent yields via tandem reactions of 2‐aminobenzimidazole with Baylis–Hillmanacetates, alcohols, and amines without the use of catalyst and additive in one‐pot process.
