    A versatile and straightforward protocol is disclosed for controlled synthesis of complex lanthanide‐bridged heteroleptic porphyrin–phthalocyanine triple‐decker assemblies.     A series of the earlier unknown diphthalocyanine complexes of rare-earth metals based on 4,5-isopropylidenedioxyphthalonitrile were prepared. Their compositions and yields depend on the radius of the complexing ion. The synthesized compounds were studied by spectroscopy and electrochemical methods. The redox potentials of the complexes studied change nonlinearly with a decrease in the lanthanide ion radius.

    A series of new metal monophthalocyanine complexes were synthesized from 4,5-iso-propylidenedioxyphthalonitrile and their spectroscopic and electrochemical properties were studied. The removal of the protective isopropylidene groups from these compounds afforded symmetrically substituted octahydroxyphthalocyanines.
