    Comparison of FT Raman spectra of some 5-nitroquinoxalines and their electropolymers

    FT Raman spectroscopy was used to characterize a set of five newly synthesized 5-nitroquinoxaline derivatives 2,3-disubstituted with 2-pyrrolyl, 2-furyl, 2-thienyl, phenyl and 2-pyridyl groups. Afterwards the 5-nitroquinoxalines were electrochemically reduced to 5-aminoquinoxalines and electropolymerized as films on the Pt electrode coated with porous Au. Comparing the SERS spectra of polymers with the Raman spectra of monomers, a mechanism of polymerization has been suggested. Specific spectral and electrochemical properties of films based on pyrrole substituted 5-aminoquinoxaline were verified by electropolymeriration of 2,3-dipyrrol-2 ' -yl-5-nitroquinoxaline without a reduction step.     In the crystal structure of the title compound, C18H11N5O2, two crystallographically independent molecules having the same composition and cis-cis conformation (arrangement of the pyridyl rings) are observed. A C-H...N hydrogen bond links the centrosymmetrically related molecules into a discrete pair [C...N = 3.462 (4) Angstrom], and the structure is stabilized further by pi-pi-stacking interactions between aromatic rings from two adjacent dimers.

    A novel box-like dinuclear Ag-I complex [AgL(CH3CN)](2)(ClO4)(2) (L being 2,3-di-2-pyridyl-5-nitroquinoxaline) has been synthesized and structurally characterized by infrared (IR), UV-Vis spectra and X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure indicates that the two intramolecular Ag-I centers are spanned by two ligands thus forming a unique box-like cyclic dimer. Each Ag-I center is four-coordinated by three nitrogen atoms of two ligands and a CH3CN nitrogen donor in distorted tetrahedral coordination geometry. The most striking feature of this complex resides in the formation of an extended supra-molecular network with unique mu(4)-ClO4- bridging mode through intermolecular C-(HO)-O-... interactions.
