Four tetrafluoronitrobenzene derivatives substituted in the 2-position (2-XC6F4NO2: X NH2, NHMe, NMe2 and OMe) have each been treated with four nucleophiles (Y = ammonia, methylamine, dimethylamine and sodim methoxide) to give mixtures of 2X-4Y- and 2X-6Y-trifluoronitrobenzenes. Possible reasons for the variation of the ratios of these two products are discussed.
