  Purine derivatives were synthesized and were explored for ferroptosis inhibition via iron chelation and showed effective iron chelation with 2 : 1 (ligand : metal) stoichiometry. One compound (2) in particular showed better activity than the known iron chelator and ferroptosis inhibitor AS8351.
