The cleavage of a silicon phenyl bond in decaphenylcyclopentasilane by CF3SO3H leads to the formation of the monotriflate derivative. This highly reactive compound is a valuable reagent for the synthesis of numerous new functional substituted cyclopentasilanes. The compounds were characterized by NMR spectroscopy (1H, 13C, 29Si, 31P, 119Sn).
