substituted at positions C2 and C3 of the aromatic ring have been prepared in order to convert strychnine into brucine. This goal was attained by means of a double oxidation process with Fremysalt (potassiumnitrosodisulphonate) on strychnic acid and 2-hydroxy-strychnine, and final methylation of 2,3-dihydroxystrychnine into brucine.
