Trans-bicyclo[6.1.0]nonatriene 1 isomerizes thermally to the unknown 3,4-homoheptafulvene 2. A degenerate cyclopropane-walk-rearrangement detected with the aid of opt.-act.- 1a precedes the structural isomerization. In both processes diradical exo- 7 is considered to be an intermediate.
