  1,2,4,5,7,8, 10,11-Octamethyl-6,12-dioxo-3,9-diphenoxy-1,2,4,5,7,8,10,11,-octaaza-3lambda5,9lambda5-diphospha-cyclododecan 3,9-disulfide (1) is the dimer of the expected product of the reaction of bis(1,2-dimethylhydrazido) thiophosphoric acid phenyl ester with ethyl chloroformate. The title compound is the Z isomer. The 12-membered ring has a strongly puckered conformation with endocyclic P-N-N-C torsion angles from -84(1) to - 106.8(9)degrees and C-N-N-C torsion angles from -73(1) to -76 (1)degrees. The mean N-N bond distance of 1.40 (1) angstrom is at the lower end of the observed range in smaller P(V)-hydrazine rings.

  4,4,6,6-Tetrachloro-1',2',4',5'-tetramethyl-6'-phenoxy-6' -thioxocyclotriphosphazene-2-spiro-3'-cyclodi[lambda(5)-phosphadiazane], C10H17Cl4N7OP4S, was synthesized in our laboratory from hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene and bis(N,N'-dimethylhydrazido)thiophosphoric acid phenyl ester in THF in the presence of triethylamine. The cyclotriphosphazene part of the molecule consists of the expected nearly planar ring, whereas the saturated six-membered phosphorus hydrazine ring adopts a strongly twisted conformation with P-N-N-P torsion angles of -68.5 (5) and -74.7 (5)degrees and C-N-N-C torsion angles of -91.6 (7) and -85.6 (7)degrees. The N-N mean bond distance of 1.420 (8) Angstrom is in good agreement with other P-v-hydrazine ring compounds.
