Au-Containing All-Carbon 1,4-Dipoles: Generation and [4 + 2] Annulation in the Formation of Carbo-/Heterocycles

A novel concept of Au-containing all-carbon 1,n-dipoles is advanced. From 1-(1-alkynyl) cyclopropyl ketones, Au-containing all-carbon 1,4-dipoles are presumably generated in situ and can efficiently participate in [4 + 2] annulation with dipolarophiles including indoles, various carbonyl compounds, imines, and silyl enol ethers. Polycyclic, fully substituted furans are readily synthesized under mild reaction conditions.

A Fe-catalytic highly selective ring expansion reaction of alkynylcyclopropyl alkanols to alkynylcyclobutanols via a 1,2-carbon shift under mild conditions was developed. A new class of homogeneous FeCl2/O2 catalytic system was employed in these novel transformations.

A gold-catalyzedcascade cyclization of O-tethered 1,7-enynes bearing a cyclopropane moiety has been reported in this communication, affording multi-substituted furans in moderate to good yields. The reaction proceeded through an intramolecular O-nucleophilic addition and 3,3-sigmatropic rearrangement followed by ring-opening of the cyclopropane unit along with the further reaction with electrophiles
