  Bis-metallation of phenylsulfonylmethyl triflone 4b produces a geminal dianion which can be dialkylated to afford alpha-phenylsulfonyl triflones. Treatment of these compounds with DBU affords vinyl sulfones which can be isomerized to allyl sulfones.
