A mild, selective, and high-yielding method for oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides using IBX and tetraethylammonium bromide in a variety of solvents is described. The method offers the advantage of short reaction times, no over-oxidation to sulfones, and compatibility to a wide range of functional groups.

A novel, convenient and chemoselectiveprocedure for oxidizing sulfides to sulfoxides with 30% aqueous H 2 O 2 in phenol at room temperature is described. The procedure is very simple and no strict conditions were requiredfor the selective conversion without affecting the functional groups even including the highly reactive aldehyde group. atom‐economical method for the synthesis of cyclic sulfoximines by intramolecular imidations of azido‐containing sulfoxides using a commercially available FeII phthalocyanine (FeIIPc) as catalyst has been developed. The method conveys a broad functional group tolerance and the resulting three‐dimensional heterocycles can be modified by cross‐coupling reactions.

The article describes the use of iodic acid in combination with catalytic amounts of tetraethylammonium bromide (TEAB) as a mild and alternative reagent system for oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides. The salient features of the developed system are room-temperature reactions, short reaction times, and compatibility with a wide range of functional groups.
