4-Trimethysilyl-3-dialkylaminocrotonate esters () react with a number of carbonyl electrophiles and titanium tetrachloride to give products with substitution at γ-position. A dynamic equilibrium of and its O-silyl isomer is proposed to explain the regiochemistry.
