N-Indolyl or N-benzofuranyl indoles and benzimidazoles were prepared through metal-catalyzed tandem reactions between 2-alkynyl cyclohexadienimines or cyclohexadienones and 2-alkynylanilines or N1-benzylbenzene-1,2-diamine.

We describe an efficient catalyst‐ and metal‐free aminoboration of alkynes to 3‐borylated indoles using one of the least expensive boron sources, BCl3. The major dichloro(indolyl)borane products can be used for the in situ construction of useful 3‐Bpin indoles. This simple and mild method provides a novel and efficient approach for the synthesis of various 3‐borylated indoles with high regioselectivity

valuable isoindolo/pyrido/pyrrolo-quinolinediones and isoindolo-indolones is demonstrated through annulation reactions of cyclic anhydrides or o-formylbenzoates with o-alkynylanilines. The metal-free Bro̷nsted acid-mediated new [5+1] and [4+1] fused-cyclization is an operationally simple, highly regioselective, atom economical, high yielding, sustainable, and catalytically efficient approach.
