An efficient synthesis and spectroscopic characterization of Schiff bases containing 9,10-anthracenedione moiety

A new method was developed for the synthesis of novel Schiff bases containing the anthraquinone moiety using dodecatungstosilicic acid/P2O5 under solvent-free conditions at room temperature. The reaction was completed in 1-3 minutes with excellent yields. This method was found to be very effi- cient, easy and hazardous-free for the synthesis of azomethines.
