    The present invention provides a modifier for aromatic polyesters which enhances the melt fluidity of aromatic polyesters without a significant decrease in the heat resistance of the aromatic polyesters, and an aromatic polyester resin composition including the modifier for aromatic polyesters. The present invention relates to a modifier for aromatic polyesters comprising polyhydric phenol residues and residues of aromatic polycarboxylic acid, acid halide or acid anhydride thereof, and the modifier comprises a material having a structure composed of a first residue selected from the group consisting of divalent residues represented by Formula (I): —Ar—W 1 x —Ar— and by Formula (II): —Ar—, the first residues being bonded to two identical or different second residues selected from the group consisting of monovalent residues represented by Formula (III): and monovalent residues represented by Formula (IV): —O—C(O)—R 7 —.

    4‐Hydroxybenzylalkohole 1 lassen sich unter Fluoridionenkatalyse mit 2‐Nitropropan zu den 4‐(2‐Methyl‐2‐nitropropyl)phenolen 2 kondensieren. Methylierung der phenolischen Hydroxylgruppe liefert die Methylether 7. Durch katalytische Hydrierung erhält man aus 2 und 7 die Amine 8, die als Bausteine zur Synthese β‐sympathomimetisch wirksamer Verbindungen eingesetzt werden können.

    Provided a process for producing a polycarbonate which comprises reacting an aqueous alkali solution of a dihydric phenol with phosgene in the presence of an organic solvent to produce a polycarbonate oligomer and subsequently polycondensing the oligomer, wherein an emulsion solution of a polycarbonate oligomer-containing organic solvent obtained in the polycarbonate oligomer production step is introduced into a coalescer to separate the emulsion solution into a polycarbonate oligomer-containing organic solvent phase and an aqueous phase, and the polycarbonate oligomer-containing organic solvent phase is subjected to polycondensation. Thus the emulsion solution of a polycarbonate oligomer-containing organic solvent obtained in the polycarbonate oligomer production step is efficiently separated to reduce the content of impurity-containing water in the oligomer for producing a polycarbonate having excellent quality and to a obtain wastewater having a low content of organic materials.
