Conservation of the Planar Chiral Information in the Tandem Oxy-Cope/Ene Reaction

We report the stereoselective synthesis of a Decalin unit using a tandem oxy-Cope/ene reaction. [3,3]-Shift of 1,2-divinyleyclohexenol 18 generates (1E, 3Z, 7E) cyclodecatrien-2-ol 23 which tautomerizes to ketone 21 (Figure 3). The chiral information embedded in 23 is transferred into the newly formed stereogenic carbon C6 in 21. The efficiency of the chirality transfer is a reflection of the difference in the rates of ring inversion versus tautomerization of 23. Ketone 21 undergoes a carbonyl-ene reaction to give Decalin 20. Assuming a rapid equilibrium between macrocyclic diastereomers, the diastereomeric ratio of the transannular ene reaction is governed by the Curtin-Hammett principle. Analysis of the conservation of the planar chiral information in the tandem oxy-Cope/ene reaction is presented.

1-iodo-1-(1-naphthyl)ethene) were used as substrates in palladium-catalysed aminocarbonylation with N,O-dimethylhydroxylamine. The corresponding Weinreb amides were prepared in high isolated yields (up to 87%) when forcing conditions (40–60 bar of CO, 50 °C) were used. By including filter means in the conduit used to decant liquids which have been used to contact a catalyst component or catalyst prepared for the polymerization of olefins, the catalyst and polymers prepared therewith are improved. Fluorescent labels comprise a polysaccharide bound to a polymeric particle which contains a fluorescent rare earth chelate. These labels can be attached to any of a variety of physiologically reactive species to provide labeled species which have improved stability in aqueous solutions. The labeled species are particularly useful in specific binding assays to determine an immunologically reactive ligand, e.g. a hapten, in either solution or dry analytical techniques.
The invention provides a stable and effective solid X-ray contrast medium which comprises an iodine-substituted aromatic polymer containing 1 to 75 wt % of iodine. This agent neither causes side effects on digestive organs, such as constipation as, unlike a conventional barium-containing preparation and nor causes iodine shock due to the use of, for example, a water-soluble iodine-containing preparation containing amidotrizoate sodium meglumine.
