본 발명은 의약품의 중간체로써 유용한 1-메틸-2-(2-하이드록시에틸)피롤리딘의 합성방법에 관한 것으로, 좀더 상세하게 설명하자면 메틸 (2E/Z)-2-(1-메틸피롤리디닐리딘-2-일덴)아세테이트로부터 목적물질인 1-메틸-2-(2-하이드록시에틸)피롤리딘를 제조하는 공정에서 메탈 보로하이드라이드(metal borohydride)를 환원제로 사용하되, 상기 메틸 (2E/Z)-2-(1-메틸피롤리디닐리딘-2-일덴)아세테이트를 2단계에 걸려서 순차적으로 환원 시킴으로써 종래 방법에 비해 안전한 공정과 저렴한 비용을 목적물질을 수득할 수 있는 새로운 합성방법에 관한 것이다.
