Herein, we describe a soluble iron(II)-phthalocyanine, [FeII(tBu4Pc)(py)2] (Pc = phthalocyaninato(2–)), as an effective catalyst in intramolecularC(sp3)–H bond amination, with alkyl azides as the nitrogen source, to afford the amination products in moderate to excellent yields with a broad substrate scope.

PKC theta is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the regulation of IL2 production in T cells. It has recently become an attractive therapeutic target for a variety of immunological disorders. We describe the optimization of the enzymatic and cellular potency of a series of 5-vinyl-3-pyridinecarbonitrile inhibitors of PKC theta. A binding model was developed that explains much of the SAR observed for this series, including the enzymatic potency observed for 19. An analysis of functional potency against various physiochemical parameters suggests that cellular potency is correlated with Log D(7.4), but not with c Log P, PAMPA permeability, or TPSA. Redox-Neutral α-C–H Functionalization of Pyrrolidin-3-ol
A redox-neutral alpha-C-H oxygenation of commercially available pyrrolidin-3-ol with a monoprotected p-quinone generated an N-aryliminium ion intermediate, which reacted in situ with boronic acid nucleophiles to produce a series of cis-2-substituted pyrrolidin-3-ols. With this strategy, 8-epi-(-)-lentiginosine was synthesized from (3R,4R)-pyrrolidine-3,4-diol in three steps.
