The first example of a regioselective β-arylation of benzo[b]thiophenes and thiophenes at room temperature with aryl iodides as coupling partners is reported. in situ formed diazonium salts (fromaromaticamines) has been observed in the presence of 10‐mol% salicylic acid, using tetrahydrofuran as the hydrogen donor. The reaction proceeds efficiently at 20 °C for a wide range of substituted anilines, even at 10‐mmol scale, without any other additive. The same protocol has been adapted to the selective deuterodeamination of some aromaticamines. Control experiments
mild and highly selective protocol for the monodeuteration of a variety of arenes and heteroarenes is presented. Catalytic amounts of Ag(I) salts in DMSO/D2O are shown to facilitate the deutero-decarboxylation of ortho-substituted benzoic and heteroaromatic α-carboxylic acids in high yields with excellent levels of deuterium incorporation.
