Thiopalmitic acid, C15H31COSH (m.p. 30.8–31.3°C), and thiomyristic acid, C13H27COSH (m.p. 19.8–20.3°C), were synthesized by the reaction of sodium hydrogen sulfide in ethanol with palmitoyl and myristoyl chlorides respectively.
