Treatment of C2-symmetric chiral acetylenes, prepared from (R)-1,1â²-bi-2-naphthol, with dichlorobis(trialkylphosphine)-platinum or -palladium in the presence of a CuI catalyst in amine gave high molecular-weight polynuclear complexes, which show a large negative optical rotation.
