Dichloroamino acid derivatives having the formula:
wherein
H1 and R2 are independently
(a) lower alkyl;
(b) lower cycloalkyl;
(c) lower (cycloalkyl-alkyl);
(d) phenyl or lower alkyl-substituted phenyl;
(e) halosubstituted phenyl;
(f) lower alkoxy-substituted phenyl;
(g) phenyl (lower alkyl); or
R1 and R2 joined together form lower alkylene; and Z is
(a) lower alkylene;
(b) -(CH2)n-phenylene-(CH2)m- wherein n and m independently are integers from 0 to 5; (c)
(d)
(e) -(CH2)n+1-O-(CH2)m-; wherein n is an integer from 0 to 3 and m an 0-20; (f)
or
(g)-
or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are prepared from chlorination of corresponding amino acids, and are found to be potent germicidal and fungicidal agents.
Novel thermolatent bases and their use as catalysts for the preparation of polyurethanes or epoxy resins are disclosed herein. A process for the preparation of polyurethanes or epoxy resins in the presence of the catalyst is also disclosed.
