Equimolar quantities of 1-phenylcarbonohydrazide and diarylcarbodi-imides react additively in dimethylformamide, giving good yields of 1-NN′-diarylamidino-5-phenylcarbonohydrazides. These are readily cyclised by aqueous alkali to 4-anilino-3-arylamino-1,2,4-triazolin-5-ones, with loss of arylamine. Thermolysis effects the same cyclisation, but produces additionally (and sometimes exclusively) 4-aryl-3-arylamino-1
The interaction of ethoxycarbonyl isothiocyanate with semicarbazides or thiosemicarbazides produces 1-ethoxycarbonyl-2-thiobiureas or bithioureas, respectively. The former are cyclisable to 2-ethoxycarbonamido-5-hydroxy-l,3,4-thiadiazole in acid, or to 2(H)-carbamoyl-3-hydroxy-5-alkylthio-1,2,4-triazoles, and thence to 3-hydroxy-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole in alkaline media. Five-membered heteroaromatic keratin dyeing compounds with one, two, or three heteroatoms. This invention further relates to a composition for the oxidative dyeing of keratin fibers, comprising a medium suitable for dyeing and one or more 5-membered heteroaromatic keratin dyeing compounds with one, tow, or three heteroatoms. This invention further relates to a method for oxidative dyeing of keratin fibers, comprising applying such compositions in the presence of an oxidizing agent, for a period sufficient to develop the desired coloration.
