  Some new mono- and bis-spiro-β-lactams of benzylisatin were prepared by Staudinger’s ketene–imine [2+2] cycloaddition reaction. The cycloadducts were characterized by spectral data including 1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR and mass spectra. The configuration of benzylisatin and one of mono-spiro-β-lactams (5a) was established by X-ray crystal analysis.

  ab]Abstract Endic acid imides were synthesized by direct fusion of endic anhydride with various amino acids. Further transformations of the resulting acids gave new 2,3-dienoic acids containing a norbornene fragment. Triphenylphosphine-catalyzed [3+2]-cycloaddition of the latter to fullerene C-60 afforded the corresponding cyclopentenofullerenes.

  Reactions were performed of (3,5-dioxo-4-azatricyclo[5.2.1.0(2-endo,6-endo) ]dec-8-en-4-yl)carboxylic acids and their derivatives with p-nitrophenyl azide. A significant fact of the involvement of the carboxy group into the formation of aziridine ring was established and the intermolecular character of this process was confirmed. The structure of compounds synthesized was proved by IR and H-1 NMR spectra.
