Treatment of acetylenes with Ph3SnH or Ph3GeH in the presence of a catalytic amount of Pd(PPh3)4 provides the corresponding alkenyltriphenylstannanes or alkenyltriphenylgermanes in good yields.
Syntheses are reported for new dimetalloid acetylenes and olefins with the general structures RnSi[CCSi(C6H5)3]4−m RnSi[CCSn(C6H5)3]4−n, trans-RnSi[CHCHSi(C6H5)3]4−n and trans-RnSi[CHCHSn(C6H5)3]4−n where n = 2 or 3 and R = CH3 and/or C6H5. Characteristic infrared and proton magnetic resonance spectral data are given.
