The synthesis of new tetrasubstituted pyridyl-containing cyclopentadienone, namely, 3,4-bis(4-(phenylethynyl)phenyl)-2,5-di(pyridin-2-yl)cyclopenta-2,4-dien-1-one is reported for the first time as a monomer for dendrimer synthesis.
