Practical Metal-Free C(sp3)H Functionalization: Construction of Structurally Diverse α-Substituted<i>N</i>-Benzyl and<i>N</i>-Allyl Carbamates
is a practical and universal CH functionalization of readily removable N‐benzyl and N‐allyl carbamates, with a wide range of nucleophiles at ambient temperature promoted by Ph3CClO4. The metal‐free reaction has an excellent functional‐group tolerance, and displays a broad scope with respect to both N‐carbamates and nucleophile partners (a variety of organoboranes and CH compounds). The synthetic utility

Multicomponent Petasisreactions: The first diastereoselectivePetasisreaction catalyzed by chiral biphenols that enables the synthesis of syn and anti β‐amino alcohols in pure form has been developed. The reaction exploits a multicomponent approach that involves boronates, α‐hydroxy aldehydes, and amines (see scheme).

developed a new three-component catalytic coupling reaction of alkynyl boronates, diazomethanes, and aliphatic/aromatic ketones in the presence of BINOL derivatives. The reaction proceeds with a remarkably high enantio- and diastereoselectivity (up to three contiguous stereocenters) affording tertiary CF3-allenols in a single operational step. The reaction proceeds under mild, neutral, metal-free conditions
