UV-Irradiation of 1,3-diacetyl-5-fluorouracil and naphthalene initiated the photo-Diels-Alder reaction to give the corresponding 1,4-adduct. Removal of the acetyl groups at N1 and N3 through hydrolysis afforded NI and N3 unprotected ethenobenzoquinazoline in fair yield.
