The present invention relates to chelators, in particular to chelators which are capable of forming complexes, i.e. paramagnetic chelates, with paramagnetic metal ions. The invention also relates to said paramagnetic chelates, said paramagnetic chelates linked to other molecules and their use as contrast agents in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Porous [M4Cl4L2] framework complexes with gismondine zeolite topology, manifesting a tetrahedral ligand ‘imprinting’, which stimulates the realization of effectively tetrahedral metal-tetrazolato/chlorido clusters, are in the focus of the report.
The present invention describes 1-aminoadamantane derivatives and 3-aminoadamantane-1-carboxylic derivatives in which the 5- or 7-position of the basic adamantane structure can be optionally substituted, methods for the production of the compounds based on the present invention, and methods for the coupling of the monomeric 3-aminoadamantane-1-carboxylic derivatives thus obtained to oligomers. The compounds based on the present invention are suitable for the utilisation as antiviral active ingredients, artificial ion channels, as well as for the therapy, diagnostics and prophylaxis of diseases in which a dysfunction of the GABA system occurs.

The present invention relates to a method of preparing porous solids, which method comprises polymerizing, in a salt melt or a eutectic mixture of salt melt containing at least one Lewis acidic salt, cyano monomers having at least one or at least two cyano groups in their molecule, wherein the at least one or at least two cyano groups are bonded to a rigid linking group in the cyano monomer, as well as to the porous solids obtainable by that method. Owing to their porosity and the associated extremely high specific surface area, the porous solids are useful as sorbents, filtering and insulating materials, as well as catalyst carriers.
