A variety of stable, safe, and soluble arenediazonium triflates ArN2+ TfO– were obtained easily by diazotization of anilines with tert‐butyl nitrite in the presence of triflic acid. They are highly reactive, forming aromatic iodides, azides, and boronic acids, and also undergo an unusual metal‐free chloro‐dediazonization with chloroform and CCl4.

The present invention concerns an iodinated lipophilic compound of formula (I) or (II) : AG-R (I) or AG-X-R (II) wherein - AG represents an unsaturated or saturated (C8-C52) aliphatic hydrocarbon chain found in fatty acids having or not a double bond, an unsaturated or saturated aromatic cycle with an hydrocarbon chain, a sterol, an unsaturated or saturated (C8-C52) aliphatic hydrocarbon chain ended by an amino group having or not a double bound, - X represents a spacer such as a diacid, a diol (like aliphatic diol, polyethylene glycol comprising 1 to 50 ethylene glycol groups) or an amino acid, - R represents a benzene ring with one, two or three iodine atoms and a carboxylic group or an alcohol group.

Abstract A rapid and efficient ultrasound-promoted protocol for iodination of aromatic and heteroaromaticcompounds, using molecular iodine in the presence of aqueous hydrogen peroxide in water without any cosolvent, has produced versatile iodinated organic molecules with potential application in organic synthesis and medicine in short reaction times and good to excellent yields. A new reagent system consisting of aqueous KI3 in AcOH and NaIO4 as oxidant has been found to be effective in iodinating a variety of commercially important aromatic substrates under ambient conditions.
