The synthesis of the trans-hyponitrite compounds Ph3E(μ-ONNO)EPh3 [E = Ge (1), Pb (2)] as well as their crystal and molecular structure are reported. Compound 1 crystallized from toluene/pentane in the trigonal space group R with a = 29.7969(18), b = 29.7969(18), c = 11.8465(6) A; γ = 120°; V = 9108.8(9) A3; Z = 12, ρ = 1.461 g·cm–3,T = 173(2) K.
