    complex W(NPh)Cl2[o-(NSiMe3)2C6H4] 3 was synthesized from PhN = WCl4 · OEt2 and N,N′-(Li2[o-(NSiMe3)2C6H4] and reacts with Lewis bases to form the adducts W(NPh)Cl2[o-(NSiMe3)2C6H4](L) (L = PMe3, THF, 3-picoline, tBuNC, MeCN) 4a–e. Crystals of 4a are triclinic, space group P1¯, with a = 9.562(1), b = 10.277(1), c = 14.920(2) Å, α = 82.15(1), β = 80.18(1), γ = 80.41(1)°, and Z = 2. The structure was solved

  • OLEFIN METATHESIS PROCESS USING A CATALYST CONTAINING TUNGSTEN FLUORINE BONDS

    A process for the metathesis of olefins has been developed. The process comprises contacting a hydrocarbon feedstock with a catalyst at metathesis conditions. The catalyst comprises a tungsten compound, which contains at least one tungsten-fluoro bond, dispersed or grafted onto a support. A specific example of the catalyst is the compound WOF(CH 2 CMe 3 ) 3 grafted onto a silica support. The feedstock comprises a first and a second olefin wherein the second olefin has a carbon number of at least two greater than the first olefin and the product is an olefin with a carbon number intermediate between the first and second olefin. Specifically the process produces propylene from ethylene and butylene.

    complexes of tungsten(VI), [WCl4CHR[C6H2(But)2O]2}] R = H (1), Me (2) are reduced by Na/Hg in the presence of PMe3 to give cis, trans-WCl2(PMe3)2CHR[C6H2(But)2O]2} R = H (3), Me (4). Reaction of [WOCl4] with the biphenols 2,2′-CHR[C6H2(But)2OH]2 in diethyl ether gives [WOCl2CHR[C6H2(But)2O]2}] R = H (5), Me (6). Similar treatment of [W(NPh)Cl4(Et2O)] gives the complex [W(NPh)Cl3(1,1′-O,OH)(2,2′-CH3CH)[4

    The tungsten imido guanidinate and amidinate complexes W(NR)Cl(3)[R'NC(NMe(2))NR'] and W(NR)Cl(3)[R'NC(Me)NR'] (R = Ph, (i)Pr, Cy; R' = (i)Pr, (t)Bu, TMS) were synthesized by reacting the corresponding imido complex W(NR)Cl(4)(OEt(2)) with the appropriate lithium amidinate or guanidinate.     trans-W[NB(mes)2]2Cl2(PMe3)2 (6) is obtained. Interaction of [W(NPh)Cl4]2 with dilithium perfluoropinacolate gives LiW (NPh)Cl[O2C2(CF3)4]2} (7).
