Methylene Blue photocatalyzed electrontransfer reactions of some substituted carboxylic acids across the water/benzene interface lead to efficient decarboxylation of these acids and the utility of this procedure has been demonstrated by the synthesis of some dihydrobenzopyran and dihydrobenzofuran derivatives.
