    An aspect of the present invention relates to method of manufacturing a hard coat film, wherein the hard coat film comprises a plastic substrate and a hard coat layer, the method comprises forming the hard coat layer by subjecting a photopolymerizable hard coating composition to photopolymerization processing, and the photopolymerizable hard coating composition comprises a radical polymerizable compound having two or more radical polymerizable groups selected from the group consisting of acryloyloxy groups, acryloyl groups, methacryloyloxy groups, and methacryloyl groups per molecule, a cationic polymerizable compound, a radical photopolymerization initiator, and a cationic photopolymerization initiator.

    A hardcoat film has a support, a first cured layer, and a second cured layer in this order in which the first cured layer is formed of a curable composition for forming a first cured layer containing a polymerizable compound 1 having a radically polymerizable group and a polymerizable compound 2 having a cationically polymerizable group and a radically polymerizable group, the second cured layer is formed of a curable composition for forming a second cured layer containing a polymerizable compound 3 having at least two radically polymerizable groups, and a content of the polymerizable compound 2 with respect to a total content of the polymerizable compounds contained in the curable composition for forming a first cured layer is equal to or greater than 51% by mass.

    A hardcoat film includes a base material film and a cured layer disposed on at least one surface of the base material film, in which the cured layer is obtained by curing an active energy ray-curable resin composition, a film thickness of the cured layer is greater than 10 μm, and contains polyrotaxane, inorganic fine particles having an average primary particle diameter of less than 2 μm, and particles having an average primary particle diameter of equal to or greater than 2 μm, and a mass of the particles is equal to or greater than 0.10 g/cm 3 . In the hardcoat film, both high surface hardness and sufficient surface asperities can be achieved in the cured layer having a large film thickness containing the inorganic fine particles. Also provided are a front plate of an image display element, a resistive film-type touch panel, a capacitance-type touch panel, and an image display.
